What Lara Croft and Tomb Raider taught me

Since I was a baby, I've grown up with Lara by my side, I consider her as the big sister I've never had.  Now that I think about it deeply, she has taught me lots of valuable things and how not to use an ice axe.

I'd like to say that, for me, Lara is more than just a fictional character, she is my inspiration and my role model and in my opinion a role model that should be followed. Why? well... because of this list:

The "Tomb Raider and Lara taught me" list

 

1.  no matter how hard things get, always keep moving
2. There will be lots of people in your life that will make you suffer  but don't worry about them,  they are just stones in your path that will make you stronger
3. Stay true to yourself and love what you are
4. Be strong 
5. Always fight if things get rough
6. If you are drowning in darkness, find your light and follow it
7. Be curious, investigate, search, knowledge is always good.
8. As long as they remember you, you will not die. Leave mark
9. Although you may feel lonely, you are not alone. There's always someone that loves you and cares about you.
10. Loss is something that happens, but be thankful because at least that person has been with you.
11. Survive, although we are not shipwreked, fighting against an evil god, or searching Thor's hammer. We have our own problems, we must face them and survive because life is never easy.

Cosplay is "not" for everyone.

Before I start; I want you all to have a look at this picture I've found.

A few months ago; a friend of mine asked me; Why do you want to cosplay Lara Croft? My answer was simple:

"I want to cosplay Lara Croft because she is so inspiring to me; she represents what I want to be in the future: an intelligent; beautiful and brave woman. To be her for just a few hours will be amazing"

A few weeks later I saw a Youtube video from a guy which says that he went to Comic Con and when he saw fat girls dressed up as slim and sexy female videogame's characters he wanted to go to them and tell them: "why are you doing this to humanity?" and stuff like that.
That one video made me really upset.

So I'd like to tell everyone a few things about cosplay and cosplayers:

•  Every cosplayer have a reason to cosplay a fictional character; some of the reasons they have are really personal and might be attached to really strong feelings
• Cosplayers do not have to match their idol's sex, body, age, weight, height & similar things. Because If we have to be identical to the character well... no one will cosplay in this world; because we all have flaws and we cannot be identical to the character we worship; but we try our best to.
• Some the cosplay photos that people see in the internet are models, a profesional photographer and yes; photoshop; sometimes lots of it.
• People should not laugh about other's cosplays because in a cosplay, cosplayers invest: money, time, effort and lots of love and dedication so if you laugh about their costume you will hurt their feelings.

Last but not least, I'd like to say one thing to cosplayers:

Cosplay is not about perfection or physical appearence, It's all about what you feel about that one special character you worship and love.

Do not let people tell you that  you're doing it the wrong and always believe in yourself because you are doing it for a reason.

BECAUSE COSPLAY IS FOR EVERYONE!

New Lara

As the new Tomb Raider game was anounced, I wondered how the new Lara would be like;  If I say the truth: I love the new Lara. 

For me, the new Lara is an awesome reflection of the Core Lara. She's still brave, brilliant, brutal, agile, tough... but now she is also more human.

In the old games; Lara would kill 1000 men without thinking it twice but now each man or animal she kills leave mark in her heart.

She starts the game being a naive young women who is afraid from almost everything but... time changes and Lara grows. She learns the fact that there are evil people in this world that want to harm her and she must stop them no matter the cost.

I'm glad that in this new game Lara learns with everything she does, sees or hears, She changes from being a naive little girl; to the lara we all love and worship.
